Artifacts are standalone outputs (documents, code, charts, small apps) that appear beside the chat and that you can edit, reuse and share.

Long-form content like reports, plans and guides shows up as its own document you can refine section by section, instead of being buried in chat.

Charts

Paste data and ask for a chart. Specify the chart type, what to compare, and the one insight it should make obvious.

Apps

Calculators, quizzes, trackers, simple tools. Describe what the user does and what they should see, and Claude builds a working interactive page.

Dashboards

Combine several charts and key numbers into one view. Say who looks at it and what decision it supports.

Visual outputs

Diagrams, flowcharts, timelines, slide-style layouts. Iterate by asking for specific changes: "make the title bigger, move the legend to the bottom".
